A breech presentation occurs when the baby presents feet first as opposed to head first.  Because a breech presentation can lead to complications during delivery, it is preferable to help the baby turn so that it is in the head first position prior to birth.

breech vs nonbreech presentationmy approach:
I treat each breech presentation as a unique event in time. I approach the situation from an intuitive perspective while relying on a core of scientific knowledge and experience with helpful techniques. My assumption is that the breech baby doesn’t turn for one of two reasons:

1) Because she/he can’t

2) Because she/he doesn’t want to

If she or he can’t turn, very infrequently this is due to some mechanical impediment. More often, the baby can’t turn due to incorrect or inadequate neurologic communication within her/his own body or between the mom, the baby, and the placenta.

If she or he doesn’t want to turn, this is more about relationships. The relationship issue may have to do with the baby/mom relationship, or with the baby’s or mom’s relationship with the outside world, or with the baby’s relationship with her/himself and her/his life purpose.

To help understand the specific circumstances of the breech baby presentation I will talk with the mom or with the family to begin. I communicate with the baby intuitively or through applied neurology techniques using the mom or someone else as a surrogate.

Treatment will be designed for the specific needs of the situation and may consist of Webster’s technique, cranial-sacral therapy, applied kinesiology, neuro-modulation technique, neuro-emotional technique or other neuro-integrative technique. It may also include energy work similar to reiki or polarity therapy. Nutritional supplements may be prescribed. Physical exercises or emotional exercises may also be suggested.

If you would like to learn more about other approaches to turning a baby, I have put together a list of the most common.
